Welcome to the AUC Spouses Organization!
Posted: March 22, 2011 Filed under: AUC Spouses Organization Leave a comment »We are the significant others and families of students currently enrolled at the American University of the Caribbean on the island of St. Maarten. Membership is free! We are a diverse group with an eclectic mix of interests. Our members’ backgrounds range from stage direction to genetic research, from exercise physiology to psychology, and the list goes on and on. We come from small towns with populations in the thousands to big cities with populations in the millions. Some members enjoy going out dancing and enjoying the nightlife St. Maarten has to offer, while others enjoy relaxing at home with friends. Some of our members are in their late teens and others are in their late 30′s. Some have children and some do not. We believe that this diversity is one of the things that makes being a part of the Spouses Organization such a rich and rewarding experience. There’s always something new to learn and someone from which to learn it!
We have created this website to provide you with useful information about who we are and what we do. From here, you can learn about what life is like for spouses on St. Maarten, and what activities the AUC Spouses Organization provides. New members are encouraged to take advantage of support services in the way of the Volunteer Sponsorship Program. This is a program in which existing Spouses Organization members volunteer their time to form a one-on-one relationship with new members and help in their transition to island living. We also highly encourage you to check out Benji Ho’s Blog Diary of a Caribbean Med Student. Benji has a very detailed guide to AUC/St Maarten that will also help answer your questions. He also has many answers to the questions your student will have about life as a student at AUC. Between our website and Benji’s you should be able to find answers to just about all your questions!
